Organizational Communications
All communications have the same basic elements: context, sender, purpose, message, audience, medium, timing and outcomes. In an organization, a firm grasp of these factors and the ability to control them are the key to managing the flow of internal communications, which impacts employee engagement, retention and productivity, and external communications which creates reputation and brand and supports marketing and sales.
Some types of communication consulting with which I've been involved include:
- Helping a law firm design an internal communication plan aligned with its strategic plan
- Helping a marketing department develop a plan to launch a new product
- Working with a large not-for-profit to interview and select a PR firm
- Assisting a marketing department with management of a special global research project and the publication of an executive report on the findings
- Consulting with a $40 million regional firm on rebranding their business
